Abstract

By analyzing the national normative and technical requirements of the lightning protection systems it seeing that there is a demand for an extra layer of protection measures from a direct lightning strike or voltage induction by a remote one. Protective devices and charts of their settings need to be determined in order to achieve that. Information and communication systems as well as their components have protection centered around counteracting thunderstorms in the environment. Ukraine’s standardization implements the recommended methods of calculation and protecting schemes from impulsive overvoltage. Authors has led a thorough analysis is made for the case of existing protectively-switching devices. A comparison of low-voltage electric networks surge protection devices in combination with park protection devices at defective contact connections was performed. The sensitivity limits for the proper operation of protective devices are determined as furthermore performed an analysis on signals indicating the reception of information on an occurrence of a defective contact connection. This, overall, displays the necessity of applying measurements means against impulse overvoltage in information and communication circuits. Those means control detection and are capable of fixing impulse irregularities from the usual form of network voltage. Constructing of measuring instruments with high metrological characteristics for impulse disturbances in information and communication lines it is expedient to use the principle of optimal distribution of measurement and control functions between elements of the measuring complex. Based on this it was complemented the application of control devices schemes. In turn, the risk of fires and device damage from lightning discharge will be greatly reduced. The measures are recommended to be implemented in the operation and electronic devices maintenance fields.
