Abstract

Structural data concerning the neotectonic deformation of the Serbo-Macedonian massif suggest a possible counterclockwise rotation of the stress field which corresponds to a clockwise rotation of the geological structures. Such a rotation is confirmed by paleomagnetic data, providing a new, alternative interpretation of the geodynamic evolution of this area.
