Abstract

The reflection and transmission of a higher-order beam field at a curved interface is investigated using the complex ray theory. A Hermite-Gaussian beam field is expressed in terms of a superposition of a finite number of complex-source-point multipole fields. By using the asymptotic approximation for the multipole fields, the complex ray analysis of a higherorder beam field is treated. The reflected and the transmitted fields of a second-order beam are calculated numerically.
