Abstract

The complex of tetrakis(2-amino-3-methylpyridine) copper(II) sulfate tetrahydrate was synthesized in mol ratio of 1:6 metal to ligand in methanol. The characterization of complex was perform include copper in the complex, TG/DTA, conductivity measurement and UV-Vis spectra. Comparative study of antibacterial activity of 2-amino-3-methylpyridine ligand, metal ion (Cu2+), and the complex indicates that complex exhibited enhanced activity than free ligands and Cu(II).
