Abstract

This case series describing 40 children with complex motor stereotypies comprised of repetitive arm and hand movements is a clinical treasure. Mahone et al from Johns Hopkins University report a 10-year experience of referred children who were evaluated carefully, had movement disorder categorized, and were followed over years. Main findings were early age of onset (by 2 years of age in 75%), long time until referral (median 6.5 years), and persistence or worsening over years in two-thirds of affected children.
