Abstract

In the next generation multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system, a higher effective degree of freedom (EDoF) is desired to increase the channel capacity. Hence, complex field manipulation, which enriches the diversity of the amplitude and phase distribution, is necessary for an antenna array. In this paper, the complex field manipulation (CFM) scheme based on an arbitrarily distributed antenna array is proposed, which takes the orbital angular momentum (OAM) spectrum analysis as the bridge. Whether the antenna element transformation states are fixed or flexible, the CFM can be achieved with different schemes. This work may promote the application of OAM spectrum analysis and the development of complex field manipulation in the high-EDoF MIMO communication system.
