Abstract
The acetylene complexes with atomic and molecular iodine have been studied by IR and UV spectroscopy in argon matrices. The IR data suggest the formation of T-shaped complexes. The fine structure of the charge-transfer band of the iodine atom complex is almost identical to that of the first photoionisation band of acetylene.
