Abstract

A new experimental method is introduced for the measurement of amplitude correlations among the polarization components of speckle fields. The measurements are used to determine the statistical parameters of rough, scattering surfaces. The calculations employ a theory that connects the scattered field amplitude, its polarization and statistics with surface parameters. Laboratory measurements, computer simulations and mechanical measurements are all in excellent agreeement.
