Abstract

Electron spin echo modulation patterns as modified by the presence of a completely asymmetric nuclear qudrupole interaction are evaluated by using a second order perturbation approach. The resulting modulated patterns are analyzed for S=1/2, I=1, and I=5/2 spin systems at different electron–nuclear distances and at different values of the asymmetry parameter. Comparison with the corresponding simulated patterns in the case of axially asymmetric nuclear quadrupole interaction shows remarkable differences both in the period and amplitude of the nuclear modulation.
