Abstract

The pattern of injuries in road traffic accidents associated with rapid deceleration in wearers of lap-belt type seatbelts has lead to the identification of the ‘seatbelt syndrome’ [1]. In this case report, an atypical complex of injuries in a lap-belt wearer suggests the possibility of a different mechanism of injury in these patients under certain circumstances.
