Introduction Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a rare malignancy that accounts for 5% of HIV-related non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). It usually presents as a lymphomatous growth in liquid phase within various body cavities such as the pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal spaces.
