Abstract

The complete amino acid sequence of T4 phage lysozyme is presented. The protein is a single peptide chain, consisting of 164 amino acid residues. The protein was found to have two cysteine residues as sulfhydryl groups in contrast to 4 S-S bridges in egg white lysozyme. No common first-order structure was found between T4 phage lysozyme and egg white lysozyme.
