Abstract

Bombay duck, Harpodon nehereus (Aulopiformes, Synodontidae), is a commercially important marine fish species in China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of H. nehereus was firstly determined. The mitogenome (16 and 536 bp) comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 putative control region. These mitogenome sequence data would play an important role in population genetics and phylogenetic analysis of Aulopiformes.
