Complementarities between the convention on migratory species and the convention on biological diversity

Abstract

The Third Meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP and CBD) requested the Executive Secretary, in consultation with the Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), “to evaluate how the implementation ofthat Convention can complement the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity through its transboundary co‐ordinated and concerted action on a regional, continental and global scale” (CBD COP, Decision 111/21). The Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and its subsidiary agreements have complemented and will continue to complement the CBD's implementation dirough its transboundary co‐ordinated and concerted action on a regional, continental and global scale.
