Abstract

This research paper highlights one of the pertinent issues of Entertainment industry. With the research paper, “Complaints against Broadcasting of Ghosts and Black Magic on Indian Television”, this paper focuses upon highlighting the impact of the complaints that are received by IBF and BCCC over the content that is being telecasted by TV shows, which encompasses of ghosts, black magic tricks, portraying of women in an evil image and breeding of superstitions. This paper is divided into five parts. The First part talks about the emergence of BCCC owing to various complaints against the telecasting of witchcraft, ghosts and black magic on Indian television. The second Part of the paper highlights the laws, orders, and advisories that have been issued by the government to cater to such complaints. The third part of the paper deals with portrayal of women on Indian Television and how such portrayal is breeding stereotype perception against women. Also, the paper puts forward the examples of a few TV Shows that have black magic and ghosts as the essense of the theme, and also highlights the various complaints that have been brought in and how BCCC has decided on these complaints. Lastly, the paper gives an analysis followed by conclusion.
