Abstract

The present research has a general objective to identify the necessary competences for the management of people in university libraries from the perspective of the librarian managers, who work in Intuitions of Higher Education. It seeks to answer the question: What are the managerial competencies of librarians essential for the effectivemanagement of people in university libraries? The research is classified as the way of approaching the problem, its objectives and technical procedures, so the work will be developed in a qualitative and descriptive way. And it presents a general researchobject to identify the necessary skills for the management of people in university libraries from the perspective of librarian managers, who work in Higher Education Intuitions. The methodology has, as far as the ends, a qualitative and descriptive research, and as far as the means, bibliographical, the subjects are the librarians managers of the university libraries, as the nature is characterized like qualitative approach, type of case study. The fields of research are the university libraries at the national level. It is concluded that the librarians managers have competences and strategic actions of the management of people in the university library besides promoting the administrative management of the sector.
