Abstract

The Competitor Analysis Framework was developed within the scope of a doctoral thesis conducted as design science research project. It provides a structured process for the competitor identification and analysis for early- stage startups and is a working tool aimed at supporting team communication, informed decision-making and a startup’s identity-building process. The five main outcomes are: 1. understanding the competitive environment, 2. positioning the product and company in a competitive environment, 3. a database containing information about competitors, 4. a basis on which a business model can be iterated, 5. content input for creating a competition pitch deck slide.
