Abstract

Frequently, the small businesses have the difficulty to attract the resources necessary to compete. Moreover, small businesses have the challenge of attracting skilled human talent to have a competitive performance. To identify organizational factors associated with attracting and retaining human talent, this research was conducted with a sample of Mexican firms. The main purpose of this paper was to identify what factors influence a company incorporated and retain professional staff and expertise to form a competitive advantage based on human talent. The variables analyzed were economic activity, geographic location, ownership of capital, export performance, size, and age of the firm.
