Abstract

This paper describes efforts of the University of Toledo Accelerated Radical Innovation (ARI) research team in support of ARI projects by the application of a competitive intelligence (CI) framework as a central part of the second-generation (2G) ARI methodology. This paper briefly reviews the history of CI, focusing on extensions to Prescott's historical stages of CI. It then examines the techniques and activities and the practitioners and systems for engaging in CI in the context of open innovation and ARI. The paper wraps up by examining the phases and steps in conducting CI in the context of the entire 2G ARI methodology.
