Abstract

Economic reform in Poland, which started on January 1, 1991, resulted in a number of changes and new trends, the most characteristic of which were the liberalisation of prices, the creation of a legal framework for the deregulation of the economy, and the introduction of internal convertability of the domestic currency. The entire Polish economy transformed from a centrally planned system to a market economy. The rules of the market economy became the driving force behind the transformation of the transport sector as well. Both transport companies and their clients had to adjust to the new market realities.
