Abstract

A set of nonlinear equations is obtained that provides a unified description of the Cherenkov instabilities of Langmuir and cyclotron waves, as well as the instabilities of these waves under conditions of the anomalous Doppler interaction, in beam-plasma systems in a finite external magnetic field. The equations derived are analyzed in the linear approximation. Results are presented from numerical simulations of the nonlinear dynamics of beam instabilities in a plasma in a finite magnetic field under the combined action of the Cherenkov and anomalous Doppler effects.
