Abstract

In this article we explore the ongoing development of selection processes for GP training and identify the opportunities that might be realised. These include the need to develop the recruitment process to reflect the revised competencies in a valid and reliable way; being able to identify those who may be in need of additional support through their training; a specific need to ensure that those entering GP training are capable of dealing with the rigours of GP training and working as a GP; and developing values-based recruitment in line with current government policy.
