Abstract
A key area of work for the RCN Mental Health and Older People Forum has been on competencies of nurses working with older people who have mental health needs. The work centres on either RGNs or RMNs working with older people outside their primary field of practice. It aims to acknowledge the legislative and regulatory frame- works within which nurses work and to discuss the responsibilities of employers and individual nurses.
