Abstract

The study describes the emergence of industrial libraries with their special features. It discusses the special competencies of corporate librarians, to fulfill the requirements of Users. Unlike academic and Public Libraries, the collection covers specific subjects in place of the huge collection of different subjects. Users usually prefer magazines, research journals, patents, etc. Users demand information, not from books. Such types of libraries are research-oriented and hence corporate librarians and staff need to respond faster. The corporate librarian needs some extra and specific skills as compared to librarians handling academic and public libraries. The qualities and skills needed in corporate librarians to handle specific requirements of users of industrial libraries are discussed in this paper.
