Abstract
The critical temperature and the compensation temperature in a cylindrical Ising nanowire (or nanotube) with a negative interlayer coupling at the surface are investigated by the use of both the effective-field theory with correlations and the shell-core concept. Particular emphasis is given to the effects of the surface and its dilution on them. We have found that, for appropriate values of the system parameters, a compensation point may be obtained in the present systems.
