Abstract

Within the effective field theory (EFT), this work studies the compensation behaviors and magnetization processes of different transverse fields mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Blume–Capel models in a magnetic field. We obtain double temperature compensation points and a single magnetic compensation point on a simple cubic lattice. The effects of the different sublattice transverse fields and a crystal field on the compensation point and magnetization are discussed in M – T and M – h space. The magnetic compensation point offers a new route in the field of magneto-optic recording. On the other hand, the magnetization processes undergo interesting and complex varieties under the different transverse field conditions. In particular, there is a super-saturation magnetization process for a spin-1/2 sublattice transverse field.
