Abstract

Routine Hemoglobin (Hb) and Hematocrit (Hct) tests are done with the Sysmex XN 1000 device at the Central Laboratory of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital. Aptus POCT can be used quickly and practically for rapid Hb and Hct tests. Intherma EDTA tubes are usually used to substitute the empty supply of Greiner EDTA tubes for blood sampling. This study aims to analyze Hb and Hct levels from blood samples in Greiner and Intherma EDTA tubes which are measured using Aptus and Sysmex devices, as well as analyze their correlation. This study is a descriptive analytic study with general check-up outpatients in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital since January until May 2020 as the research subjects (n = 50). Research variables consist of Intherma tubes, Greiner tubes, Hb and Hct. Statistical analysis was performed to compare Hb, Hct values using Intherma tubes and Greiner tubes which used Aptus and Sysmex XN 1000 devices. Results revealed that mean Hb value using Greiner tubes and Sysmex device was 13.73 ± 1.39, mean Hb value using Greiner tubes and Aptus device was 12.9 ± 1.1, mean Hb value using Intherma tube and Sysmex device was 13.9 ± 1.513 and mean Hb value using Intherma tube and Aptus device was 13.00 ± 1.112. Adjustments are required for the Aptus device, which still uses basic methods unlike the Sysmex XN 1000 device which is a reference value. In conclusion, there is a significant difference in Hb levels measured using Sysmex and Aptus devices. There is also a significant difference in Hct levels measured using Greiner and Intherma EDTA tubes.
