Abstract

Mobility models are very important in the performance analysis of cellular networks. The PDFs of terminal speeds and directions of boundary-crossing are biased, different from the PDFs for all terminals and follows the biased sampling formula. We propose a traffic model in circular cells based on the biased sampling formula. The model is compared with those of Thomas et al. (1988), Hong et al. (1986), and Xie et al.(1993) in terms of performance measures such as the blocking probability and handoff rate. To check the accuracy of the analysis, a computer simulation is performed.
