Abstract

Precision values of L/K orbital electron capture ratios available up to October 1967, are compared with recent theoretical calculations, both with and without correction for electron exchange. In the region between 13 ≦ Z ≦ 37, a comparison of experimental values of the exchange correction factor is made with theoretical values calculated by Bahcall. The results show that the experimental values for the L/K capture ratios fall somewhat below the theoretical predictions even with correction for electron exchange. This conclusion is consistent with the results for M/L orbital electron capture ratios, where the disagreement between theory and experiment is larger than that for the L/K capture ratios.
