Abstract

models of other key components of the new system are also given. Based on these component models, performance simulations of the new type of aircraft membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system are carried out. Two configurations of the membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system are designed and comparison studies of performance of the new and conventional systems are made based on system simulation results. The simulation results show that application of membrane dehumidification in aircraft environmental control system is theoretically feasible and has great advantages over conventional environmental control system in terms of overall system performance. The membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system-II is more suitable than membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system-I for current membrane material. These promising results suggest that further membrane dehumidifier experimental research work is worth doing for practical application of this new type of membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system to aircraft.
