Abstract

Objective To observe the influence of fenestration discectomy(FD) and percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) on spinal motor unit on patients with lumbar disc herniation. Methods Ninety-six patients with lumbar disc herniation who underwent surgery in Yuncheng Central Hospital from January 2014 to October 2017 were divided into two groups according to random number table method. Forty-eight patients in the observation group were treated by PTED, while 48 patients in the control group were treated by FD. The recovery of vertebral column after operation in the two groups were observed, and the motor units of spine were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the good recovery rate between the two groups (P>0.05). After operation, the decreases in intervertebral space height (ISH) and foramen height (FH) in the observation group were smaller than those in the control group, and the increase of range of motion (ROM) was smaller than that in the control group (P<0.05). The difference of zygopophysis diss (DID) and difference of facet joint angle (DFJA) of the observation group increased after operation(P<0.05); on the contrary, the DID and DFJA of the control group decreased after operation, and the difference between the groups was significant (P<0.05). Conclusions PTED and FD can achieve good recovery effects in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Among them, PTED has less influence on ISH, FH and ROM; and FD has less effects on DID and DFJA. Key words: Lumbar disc herniation; Percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy; Spinal motion
