Abstract

Backgound: The GlideScope® is one of the video laryngoscopes that was developed for management of the difficult airway. We compared the GlideScope® with the classic Macintosh laryngoscope (ML) in simulated easy and difficult airway models. Methods: We performed a prospective, cross-over, randomized study. The four airway models were simulated using Airsim® manikin as follows: normal, tongue edema, cervical rigidity and combined tongue edema with cervical rigidity. Emergency physicians performed tracheal intubation using each of both devices in every four scenarios, respectively.
