Conclusion: Hypothermia treatment can be successfully delivered at the referral hospital as well as during transport for neonates with HIE. However, passive cooling can result in core temperature below the target temperature range resulting in the need for additional heat during transport. Regardless of modality of cooling, core temperature must be carefully monitored to ensure that the temperature remains in the desired range.
