Abstract
Finney's method and the method of maximum likelihood for correcting the bias due to the logarithmic transformation in the estimation of biomass are presented as step-by-step procedures and are compared using empirical data and statistical theory. Based on theoretical considerations, ease of computation, and the use of empirical data, the method of maximum likelihood is recommended.
