Abstract

Objective To evaluate the agreement for ocular biological measurements obtained from Lenstar and IOL Master. Methods Patients who participated in our Guangzhou Twin Study follow-up examination from June 2011 to August 2011 were enrolled. All subjects underwent the Lenstar LS 900,IOL Master, slit lamp and fundus examinations. The data of the right eye were analyzed. The differences in axial length (AL),anterior chamber depth (AD),radius (R) and white-to-white distance (WTW) between the two devices were analyzed with t-test.The correlation was analyzed with Pearson test, and the consistency was analyzed with Bland-Altman plot. Results 205 subjects (205 eyes) completed the examinations.Among them,122 were male and 83 were female. The average age was (44.3-± 5.0) years. There were significant differences in AL,ACD,WTW,R1 (minimum radius) and R2(maximum radius).Lenstar results yielded significantly larger values of AL,R1 and R2,but smaller values of ACD and WTW than those from IOL Master. The linear correlation was very high for AL,R1 and R2 measurements (r > 0.9,P < 0.001),but the correlation was relatively weak for ACD and WTW measurements. The agreement was the highest in AL measurement, but the lowest in ACD and WTW measurements. Conclusion Lenstar and IOL Master produce similar measurements in AL and R for normal people with no catract, but the ACD and WTW measurements showed clinically significant differences.
