Abstract

Electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) and electron spin echo (ESE) techniques were utilized for measuring the spin-lattice relaxation time ( T 1) and spin-phase memory time ( T M ) of the SeO 4 3- center in KH 2PO 4. Comparison of the ESE/ENDOR data with that obtained via the classical CW power saturation techniques showed that the power saturation methods yield T 1 and T 2 values differing by at least an order of magnitude from the ESE/ENDOR results. Such large errors can mask or artefactually invert the T 1/ T 2 anomalies that generally occur in the phase transition region.
