Abstract

In this study, mass transfer and efficiency for sieve tray and Nye tray has been compared. The simulation has been performed by computational fluid dynamics. The scale of the trays is Industrial. A 3-D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model Coupled with The inhomogeneous Euler–Euler model has been applied for study SRS model has been used and methanol-normal propanol has been selected. Calculations carried out using the ANSYSCFX 15.0. Four Liquid composition profiles in solution and four Murphree efficiencies along both trays on the central axis has been calculated. The results compared with experimental data. Obtained results show that the liquid composition profile on the Nye tray Better of sieve tray and more like to rectangular tray. Murphree efficiency for Nye tray is about ten percent more of the sieve tray.
