Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the antibacterial effect of larch wood using microbiological methods. The bacterial strains used for conducting the experiments were Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Wooden cubes as well as wood shavings from larch heartwood and larch sapwood were used as test materials for the analysis. The results indicate that the bacterial number of both test strains decreases significantly after the incubation periods. However, different reduction rates in bacterial count on the sample groups could be observed.
