Abstract

Iron based MIL-53 (Fe) was synthesized by solvothermal and ionothermal methods. Then the synthesized materials were sulfated to increase the acidic property. Characterization of synthesized and sulfated materials were performed by FT-IR, BET, XRD and TGA methods. The sulfated materials were used in esterification reaction of acetic acid to test the catalytic activity. The effect of synthesis method on the structure of MIL-53 (Fe) and also effects of temperature, time and sulfation of samples on the conversion of acetic acid were studied. Also reusability of sulfated samples was achieved by washing with pure water. In ionothermal synthesis of iron based metal organic framework, deep eutectic solvent formed by choline chloride and dimethyl urea was used as solvent.
