Abstract
The paper analyses power system in its initial operating conditions by load flow study using various open source and commercial software tools. The IEEE 9-bus and 14-bus system are considered for analysis. The voltage and phase angle of the buses obtained from the software tools were compared with standard results of the test cases. The final results provide us with a qualitative comparison of the software packages taken into account for the test systems considered.
