Abstract

DSI has micromagnetic simulation software that reproduces the recording process on granular media. In this work, the signals from the micromagnetic and GFP models are benchmarked against those from a Seagate hard disk drive (HDD). The head and media properties from a Seagate HDD are used as inputs into the micromagnetic model and the performance of the readback is bench-marked against those of the HDD in terms of the magnetic write width (MWW), the SNR and BER.
