Abstract
The diameter growth pallerns of three tree species were eumined by band type dendrometers from July 1, 1991 to luly 6, 1992 in Nonheast Thailand. Climate of the research site has distinct rainy, cool-dry and hot-dry seasons influenced by the monsoon winds. Eucalyptus camaldulensis, a recently introduced tree, grew vigorously during the rainy season, continued even in cool-dry season, and stopped only in the hot-dry season. Ceiba pentandra, an old introduction, showed relatively vigorous growth in the rainy season, but almost stopped its growth in the dry season. The growth of Dipterocarpus obtusifolius, an indigenous species, was less than the other two species in the rainy season and it also nearly came to a halt in the dry season. Its’ growth period was the shortest among the species. lhe rapid growth of Eucalyptus camaldulensis seems to be due to its long growth period and large growth rale in a year.
