Abstract

Static corrections determination is one of the main problems seismic data processing on land. Typically, static solution is obtained using refracted arrivals to build near-surface velocity model. Sometimes it is augmented by an uphole survey. However, good refraction solution can be obtained, when a clear refractors exist in the subsurface. In case of complicated geology, like dipping, thrust-and-fold belt structures, refraction static solution can be difficult to obtain. In such case, diving waves can be inverted using tomographic approach to obtain so-called tomostatics (e.g. Zhu et al. 1992). Here we compare refraction and tomographic static solutions calculated for a deep regional profile located in SE Poland. It provides a good benchmark for comparing various static solution as it crosses both relatively simple and complex geological strata.
