Abstract

The effective-gluon (EG) model of high-${p}_{\ensuremath{\perp}}$ inclusive scattering is compared to recently published Fermilab data. The EG model is shown to describe accurately the observed features of the data for the production of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, ${K}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, $p$, and $\overline{p}$. Features of the model which are independent of the exact nature of the quark distribution and decay functions are discussed.
