Abstract

The paper is focused on comparison of power losses and a quality of output voltage in inverters fed drives for several types of inverters. The explored types of inverters were either based on hard switched inverter with dv/dt or sine-wave filter or the resonant or quasi resonant inverters. The family of resonant inverters was represented by the ZCS resonant inverter, the family of quasi resonant inverters was represented by the ZVS quasi resonant inverter with high frequency transformer in resonant DC link. The paper presents both the simulation and the experimental results. The models were simulated in PSPICE environment using mostly models of real parts. High frequency models of an induction motor and a power cable are used in the numerical simulation. The experimental measurement was performed on existing laboratory models of inverters built for examination of their function with optional dv/dt and sine wave filter. The measurement was done on measuring unit using power analyzer LEM Norma D6100 and a power analyzer based on PC platform with multifunction cards NI - Daq 6024E and control software developed in LabVIEW environment.
