Abstract

ABSTRACT Comparison of the parameters of soot formed during pyrolysis of benzene under laboratory conditions and during incomplete combustion of coal tar at furnace process was performed. Surface area and yield of soot formed during laboratory isothermal pyrolysis of both benzene and coal tar at 1200°C were practically the same ones. Soot surface areas were within a range 19-21 m2/g. The surface area values of soot formed during furnace process at different temperatures are on the same Arrhenius line obtained earlier during benzene pyrolysis under laboratory conditions. It was concluded that dispersion of soot formed during incomplete combustion depends mainly on temperature and feedstock pyrolysis process.
