Abstract

Economically rich nation uses hydrocarbon-based fuels in the automobile sector for transportation purpose. The main problem with the hydrocarbon fuel is the release of various emissions in to the atmosphere. The major emissions released from the hydrocarbon fuels are unburned hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) which are extremely harmful to the environment. So it is necessary to find an alternative source of energy to power the vehicles. In this research, the hydrogen gas was injected into a two-wheeler with only a minimum modification and performance characteristics of the two wheeler fuelled was tested by using a 2 wheeler chassis dynamometer. The same engine was again tested with gasoline fuel using 2-wheeler chassis dynamometer. The engine was tested for three different rpm (1500, 2000 & 2500), hydrogen generates a torque of 29.9 nm at 2500 rpm and the gasoline developed torque of 30 nm for the same rpm.
