Abstract

This paper aims at analyzing the policies in solar rooftop photovoltaic (PV) net metering in Maharashtra and its comparison with others states policies in India. In a developing state like Maharashtra, per capita utilization is extremely high, for the largest section of the population, compared to other states. This paper focuses on improving the renewable energy through the rooftop solar PV power using net metering process and by implementing various innovative techniques; identifying the issues and making relevant recommendations. The paper is concluded by prescribing different implementation strategies and policies which should be acted to completely exploit the solar potential in Maharashtra state. In this manner, the electric generation limits need to increment twofold in the next decade. At present, the generation limit is dominated by solar power in Maharashtra.
