Abstract

The requirements on the communication systems grow exponentially with number of users. Network providers must react to this trend and find the new way to increase the availability of the services. The majority of the current communication systems were improved by the process of optimization. Some network elements were replaced by adequate replacement. The standard fiber optical communication networks were also modified over the time of use. Free Space Optics (FSO) system is an innovative concept of communication system which should directly replace standard fiber optical systems. The signal transmission in FSO system is based on free propagation through the atmosphere. The optical signal is sensitive to inhomogeneities in the atmosphere. To ensure the availability of 99.999% we developed the backup radio-frequency (RF) link. This backup link is based on microwave transmission. In this paper, the design of patch antenna made out of three different materials (FR04, RO4000 and RT6002) is presented. Because each of the proposed material is characterized by different value of relative permittivity, which affects the performance of antenna, we provide the comparative analysis of electromagnetic compatibility in FEKO software.
