Abstract

Objective: This study was designed to determine the effects of three teaching methods on children\'s ability to demonstrate and recall their mastery of proper lifting techniques. Method: Ninety-three primary five and six public school children who had no knowledge of proper lifting technique were assigned into three equal groups. Each group was taught correct method for lifting a low lying object by lecture demonstration,guided discovery, or lecture demonstration with guided discovery teaching formats. The children\'s knowledge of correct lifting techniques was assessed immediately after teaching, and six weeks after teaching with practical and written tests.
